Our Cashmere

At Illann we are very passionate about the quality of our cashmere. We have spent many years trying to source the highest quality yarns for our cashmere garments. Our yarns are made from the longest, thinnest fibres from Inner Mongolia. These are naturally more expensive, but result in a garment that 'pills' less and holds its shape for many years. All of our yarns are lab tested for purity, twist and strength. Illann cashmere garments are knitted with a higher yarn tension than most manufacturers use. Again, this increases the manufacturing cost, but further reduces pilling and ensures your garment lasts even longer. Quality is always at the forefront of our minds when producing our pieces.

There are plenty of places where you can buy cheaper cashmere garments, but they are generally made with the cheaper, shorter and thicker fibres. Loss of shape and excessive pilling on these cheaper garments are common problems.

Cashmere is by nature a delicate yarn and pilling is a natural side effect of this. We recommend our pilling comb to keep your product in beautiful condition. All of our cashmere garments come with a special storage bag, essential for keeping your favourite pieces clean and protected from moths.

Our garments come in two weights; two ply and four ply. Two ply is the standard yarn used by the majority of manufacturers for the bulk of their garments. Two ply garments can be used for year round use keeping you cool in the summer months, and layered up in the winter to keep you cosy. The four ply garments are typically around 40% heavier in weight for the same design, and are more suited to autumn and winter use.
